Cherry Blossom Rot

My mother in law just found out that she has brown rot on her cherry blossom tree; I'm not exactly sure what this is, but the landscaper told her this when he was trimming the tree. Can someone explain this more and let me know how she can get rid of it?

It is a fungus that generally occurs in the spring. It starts in the fruit and can extend into the twigs. As with most types of fungus you would spray before the fruit or buds come out. I would suggest talking to n to cut them down.
