Hi all,

I have a ceylon cinnamon which I bought a while back. It's still very young however lately some brown spots started to form.

It is planted in a composition mix of : 20% perlite, 45-50% sand, 10% compost, 20% light soil with clay.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

I don't know anything about cinnamon but your picture shows classic too much water symptoms.

Hi, thanks a lot for your quick replies. I have only been watering the plants about once a week though when the top 1.5 - 2" get dry. Could it be that the sun is too strong at the moment? Or should I re-pot maybe the water is not draining enough?

Stick your finger in the drain hole in the bottom and see if it is damp before watering next time. Your pot may not have enough drainage

True Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum, formerly C. zeylanicum), also know as Ceylon Cinnamon, is an evergreen tree in the Laurel Family (Lauraceae) native to Sri Lanka (Ceylon). The bark of this species is the prefered source for true cinnamon, though other species of Cinnamomum are also used for their fragrant and flavourful bark, such as Chinese Cassia (Cinnamomum burmannii, formerly C. cassia).

Grow Cinnamomum verum outdoors in full sun in a tropical climate or indoors in temperate regions, in a greenhouse or other very bright environment. It should be planted in a well-draining soil and regularly irrigated.
