So I planted carrots in the fall because we had such nice weather (So Cal zone 9a), but then we got tons of rain and it was cold so they didn't grow. When it started warming up a month ago they finally started growing but I'm not quite sure when to pick them because I didn't even pay attention to when they popped up until I started getting my garden ready for spring planting. So, without being able to say how many days they've been there, how do I tell when they are ready? Do I just sacrifice one and pull it and see how big it is?

When the greenery on top is full and lush, the carrots are ready. I prefer the "pull one and see" method, because even if it's small, you can still eat it!
