Do not Cannas do better if they are planted directly in the ground?

Greetings, welcome to the Forums.

For the most part the Canna pictured in the OP look lealthy. Some leaves do show minor insect damage or sun scald.
Also a few leaves might possibly display Canna Rust (Puccinia thaliae), but I would want to see sharp, macro shots of the leaf damage before confirming that diagnosis.
