Bug tunnelling in ficus bark

My ficus lost almost all its leaves (has been in the same spot for almost 8 months). Upon inspection I discovered small round holes tunnelling into the core of the “tree”. I also discovered brown exoskeletons of a small termite like creature. There is evidence that the tree is being eaten from the inside as I can see mulched wood next to the holes. Has anyone else experienced this? Can anything be done? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum :)

Far too small a pot for a tree unless you're trying to Bonsai it.

Sounds like it's got woodworm.

Thank you for your quick reply! It came in this pot so I will re-pot it soon. Any tips or threads on here to tackle the worms without killing the plant?
