Hi all,

I’m planning a little project around my garden, repainting a room or garden shed to freshen up the space. I know this isn’t strictly about plants, but it seems relevant to general garden projects and upkeep.

I’m trying to figure out the cost to paint a room, including materials like outdoor grade paint, brushes or rollers, and whether it’s worth hiring help.

Are there particular products or prep steps that make a big difference in price or longevity?

Also any tips for tackling it yourself versus getting a local painter would be great.

Painting the interior, exterior or both?

Dimensions?

Construction materials?

Generally, Painting is a good DIY job with size and attention to detail being the things that make me decide DIY or farm out.

I paint houses at work sometimes, last one took $500 paint, about 1200 sqft floorplan

A sprayer is nice on big projects but not worth it for even one house. Just get a 18in roller (or just a brush if it won't roll like wood siding) and a brush for fine details.

I wouldn't hire professional help, get a friend if you want, unless it involves scaffolding or something

Cover everything you care about with plastic. Tape carefully, use a primer, and if you want product recommendations ask a Sherwin Williams rep.
