I have a Bloodgood Japanese maple newly planted last fall. I was eagerly anticipating the brilliant red color this spring and am disappointed to see that almost half the tree is green. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum :)

They can change colour for a number of reasons (too much sun for example), what kind of location is it planted in?

Southwest corner at the top of a slope. A large white birch has branches that provide partial shade in the a.m. The afternoon has it in full sun.

Agreed, it should still change colour in the autumn (y)

I imagine it's probably the full sun in the afternoon that is causing the leaves to go green. You could try creating more shade if this is a problem.
