I was given some rabbit manure with black fly maggots in it. I've mixed it with some compost but what I'm wondering is can I put this mixture directly on a garden bed that I plan to plant snow peas in late August. I know the birds typically eat the maggots, but do I want to encourage birds into a bed that might have edible plants they might also enjoy?

I would just spread it out on something, cardboard, the drive, etc and let the sun kill off the maggots. That won't hurt your garden as they'll puppate into flies and go away, but it's kinda gross !! 😆
