I’m exploring ways to grow vegetables indoors using hydroponics. Since I have limited space, I want to choose a system that is efficient and doesn’t waste water.

I think a good choice for first time growers is Grodan Rockwool cubes. Its a low-maintenance method that is easy for beginners. Its very important to have on-hand pocket EC and pH meters before even starting. After one masters cubes then move up to DeepWaterCulture.
