Best Hose Timer?

I'm putting in a new garden, and I would like to use a soaker hose on a timer for watering. Any advice on what's the best sprinkler/ hose timer?

Are you using pressure or gravity fed water?

that's a good question. I was going to experiment using a rain barrel in the future to water the front yard, but we do also have a hose hook up right by the garden that I was planning on using now.

Then you want a gravity fed timer, since it will work fine with the hook-up short-term.

I have a number of gravity-fed systems, and these all worked for a full season, reliably on one set of batteries.
I spend a lot of time away at my holiday home in Scotland, (I'm there now) and reliability is first concern for my greenhouses and polytunnel.
