Beets all tops nothing on the bottom

Hi, does anyone know why my beets had these huge dark green leaves and very small to nothing beets on the bottom? They were planted in new soil that was supposed to be pro-growing for veggies and herbs. They got consistent water, sun.

Yep, that's why one should not fertilize the garden but instead fertilize individual plants or groups of individual plants as needed.

It's easy when your source of it is all natural, as in legumes.
