Are semi-clear containers good?

Hello,
I used some cutoff bleach gallon containers as cheap pots for some plants which I keep by a window. The containers are made of white plastic which lets some light pass through. I have noticed a bit of green stuff, like mold, forming inside. The plants (mostly basil and sage) seem to be growing fine, but i wonder if the green stuff would cause problems in the long term.

Usually this is fine. The algae that is growing under the plastic is not a pathogenm and there are many other situations where algae and plants will grow together in the same soil.
If the look of it concerns you, try painting the pots with another layer of paint. White and other light colors will keep the soil cooler than black or dark colors, especially if the pot receives direct sunlight on it. However plants usually grow well in posts of any color.
