Hello. I purchased a home earlier this year. Someone did alot of landscaping, planting, and gardening in the past.

I came across this tree earlier in the year and noticed these small fruits which turned out to be apples.

The apples don't look real healthy. The tree also has many of these holes. The tree looks otherwise fine.

Any idea what these holes are in the tree and apples?

Looks like a heavy infestation of tree borers. They lay eggs in the fruit. Cut an apple and look for the larvae. The spots on the fruit is either the entrance or exit Bacillus BT helps with that. I use Southern AG Thuricide. Do a bit of research on the life cycle to help control them.

It could be tree borers as @MiniOrchardDude mentioned or could be from sapsuckers, I've seen them make holes like that too.

Did you buy the tree locally or have it sent from a tree company?
I don't want to speak for the op but I think the tree was there when they got the house.
