I'd like something evergreen that will grow at the front of the house which is north facing and will flower (preferably fragrant) in winter, I've heard that certain clematis and honeysuckle can grow happily in shade are there any specific kinds that I should try, they don't necessarily need to be climbers

Thanks

We've got a north-facing wall in our garden, and I tried growing a couple of varieties of clematis but they didn't do well. I can't remember the varieties off the top of my head, but they were both ones that were meant to be happy in that situation. I'm planning on re-planting the area this autumn using native plants - ferns etc.

Hopefully someone will be able to help you who has had better luck than me!
