Another Ident Please.

Just moved to the Moorlands area in Staffordshire from East Anglia.

Odd Grass/Reed like plant in our small garden.

Quick glance. Try the carex family.

I think rush. Carex have flat to folded leaves while Rushes are round. Not sure of genera and species in England.

Each stem is quite rigid and tubular in structure as apposed to a grass like form which the sedges all seem to be?
Will give the Rushes a good look.

I think it's a rush too. We have it growing wild all over Scotland in boggy areas. For the life of me I just can't think of the name of it at the moment.

It also resembles Chives of which the stems become quite rigid during flowering and after. That can be discounted by breaking and smelling a stem that will smell like onions.

Common rush most places, we used to plait them when we were kids, made some quite long ropes.

I think that's it @DiggersJo but I don't know it by its botanical name and still can't think of the common name.
