A small flower

One of my miniature roses bloomed in the middle of November. It was a wonderful surprise I love having fresh flowers in my room. This one is really tiny, but it's better than nothing

I love those tiny roses, but they do not do well for me. Most years I try to raise indoor roses, and every year I fail!

What exactly happens to your miniature roses? I've been growing mine for a few years now, so maybe I could help.

I don't think I have enough light. The rose loses leaves one at a time, it gets spindly, the tips die, and then the rose dies!

I suspect the lack of light is the culprit, because the roses usually die in February and that is our most overcast month where I live!

Some of my roses lost their leaves when I was overwatering them.
Do you let your roses go dormant? I always store my miniatures in an unheated room from November to March. They need it. The temperature there doesn't exceed 10°C.

Is there a way to know when to do this, or do you just reduce the watering and put them some place cool?

Your rose is just beautiful Claudine and i like the color...i am at my worst when it comes to roses...i treat them just as i do all my other plants..however as soon as i receive a rose plant after couple weeks it's all dried up...i just can't understand what's the reason for this as i always try to water them twice a day.

Kansas Terri - I do this when plants that grow outside start losing their leaves. Usually, it's in late autumn.
Kammy - I think that watering roses twice a day is too often. I had used to water my miniatures once a day and some of them died Now, I do this once a week and they're doing fine Roses don't need too much water.

Wow am i clueless or what i had no idea that roses shouldn't be watered that often at least now i know were i was going wrong.

Some time ago, I didn't know it either and I drowned half of my miniatures I'm still angry at myself. Water your roses only when you notice that their soil is dry and they'll be fine.

Unfortunately, I don't know what variety it is. I received it as a gift, it didn't have any tags on it. But I think it may be a Gene Boerner rose
