Preparing garden for planting in May. Frost is out of ground. Started rototilling today. All spent vegetation has been removed.I was using an electric rototiller. It works reasonably well, the cord is always a bit o a hassle.

I bought the property specifically for the size of the yard. It is just under half an acre. The soil is excellent good back fill. Mostly clay which I modified with much compost and wood chips over the last 12 or so years.

I have a similar size lot, but the back has too many trees for a good garden space. That plus a playground and fire pit. If love to get the acre of open spaces behind my lot for a garden. I planted my citrus trees there anyway!

The main vegetable area is less than 2000 square feet. The area produces more than what is used. I pressure can about 400 or so liters of all and sundry every year. I can buy in season what I don't grow and desire. I know exactly the number of plants required for my production. It is fun and sort of my main purpose in retirement.
