First picking of 23 July 2019 Cucamelon (Melothria scabra). There are two plants and it grows about six inches each day. My grandchildren enjoy the fruit.

Those fruits are also called Mexican Gerkins. They are ripe when they fall off of the plant and they taste like sour/dill pickles.

I better restate what I said. When you pick them while young they are sweet like cucumbers. When you let them mature they taste as if pickled.
