Thirteen cucumber plants were placed along a trellis in the outdoor garden. There are two types National Pickling and Cross Country. Feeling is planting two varieties increases production. The plants will be trained to climb the trellis, which facilitates picking. The growth is 21 days from planting the seeds in the pots in the greenhouse. This gives the plants a head start on the season. When planting I take much care in not disturbing the roots.

This is my first year growing cucumbers (I live in zone 8). I only planted 3 plants as a neighbor told me cucumber plants are known for producing lots of product. I water these plants daily. Do you think I am watering them too much? On average, how many cucumbers are produced on an individual plant?

Don't water them again for a week unless you are growing them in sand.
Then only twice a week.
Move up to a little every day when they are producing fruit.

Actually cucumbers can wimp a little before watering. But the best time is a good soaking with a pail just before wimping, preferably not in full sun. Cucumbers like water but not wet roots. Never water the vegetation.
