A row of 14 Yukon Gold Potatoes were harvested. Total of 22 pounds an average weight of 1.6 pounds per plant. My expectations were to have 3 to 5 pounds per plant, but they were planted late and weather was cooler than normal. The potato quality is excellent.

They look like good potatoes.
What size were your seed?
If, like here, you think of approx 12 to the KG, & you have 10 kg, then you're only 1.5kg down on a really decent crop.
Further, the high quality means little wasted, especially if you eat them skin-on.

I bought a 5 pound bag of seed potatoes and used about half for 15 plants. Never cut any, they were about golf ball size.

That works out at 1.15kg returning 10kg IF you didn't eat the biggest ones, in which case the return would have been even better.
If that's what you term a poor crop, then talk to some of the other folks on here who reckon a 10:1 return by weight as a good crop.
