    Show off your garden shed!

Thanks for asking. The roof, walls and floor were all made out of half inch roofing plywood, which I purchased in 8ft X 4ft sheets. At that thickness it will bend. It's just a case of starting to screw it to the soffits, starting from the perlin, every couple of inches or so. With the...

    No seed pods on wisteria

We've been pruning ours the recognised correct way for several decades. We always get a good show of blooms. Throughout the rest of the year I prune off any unwanted growth, it's almost a weekly occurance until the end of September.

    No seed pods on wisteria

Are you pruning it correctly? Between two to four buds on side branches, in January.

What did you do in your garden today?

I got into the far corner of the garden. I'd finished and done, came indoors and had my second shower of the day by noon. We have a supposedly black bamboo behind the pagoda that likes to grow out sideways rather than upwards. It doesn't spread, just sends out a lot of thin foliage. if I don't...

    No seed pods on wisteria

We've five wisterias, sometimes they produce pods, although I don't give them much of cahance, as I prune them between Christmas and the New Year and then throughout the year as they grow like weeds. Always plenty of blooms. I don't really worry about them. They are all between twenty and fifty...

What did you do in your garden today?

It was the weekly shop this morning so didn't have time to get into the garden until this afternoon. "But I got a bit done."

Fave songs from way back when!!

This isn't that old but I like it. Natalie Cressman A jazz trombonist with her own band who also has a nice voice with a great range. A departure from her usual repertoire, (much of which being her own compositions) A Frank Ocean cover, I recorded. Thinkin' 'bout you. Box

    TV Licence

As from 1st of this month as I'm over 75, I need a TV licence. It isn't a problem. But the BBC say I should wait until I get the ten page letter they are sending out to explain the situation. I've already composed a draft e-mail, asking if they would clarify it a bit better. They're in their...

What did you do in your garden today?

My attempt at stopping the wood pigeons perching on the security fence between the corner of the house and the corner of the garage, with these two strands of garden wire wasn't successful. I found yesterday morning that they still managed to perch on it long enough to deficate over the...

What did you do in your garden today?

"Looking for something to do," I sorted out this corner of the bottom bed. We had a big clump of a green and yellow striped grass in the corner (dunno the variety, ) which was full of fine lawn grass and the exposed roots covered in moss. So I dug it out and binned it. We had several other of...

Too early to prune an Azalea?

Azaleas are quite resilient. Thirty years ago, my wife brought this azalea, home on the bus from a local market in a 4" pot, with all her shopping and managed to split the stem during the journey. We repaired it with sone Sellotape and over the years I layered it several times. As it was in...

What does your garden look like ... Today?

It's all about the same. "Very green," but tidy!

What did you do in your garden today?

Just a small job today. We've a pair of wood pigeons which visit our garden, thery try to get some of the food that we put out for the smaller birds, but casn't get at it in my "patent" birdfeeder I made. They are unable to limbo under the mesh of the old fan cover. So they perch (unseen by...

    Animals in your garden

I'm impressed, but I believe these are of the very short legged variety and they only need a bit of wind to get airborne.
