    Using Charcoal

Thanks for that very complete explanation. It makes sense, based on my totally unrelated experience with charcoal, in the ER.

    Using Charcoal

The seeds are placed on top of the charcoal. I've never seen this done before.

What to do under this tree

You may be right about diy but... We are a condominium and there are legal, and safety, constraints regarding the removal of large trees. The city requires licensed arborists be hired to remove trees that are a certain size. Then there is the stump, which would have to be removed, which is not a...

What to do under this tree

That is a very expensive option and we're already out $4,000, which is what we paid a "landscape designer" to redesign our landscape! He did such a poor job that we sued and won, but we only got part of it back. Our members are in no mood for another expensive landscape project!

Ha! You got that right! I was raised in New England, I know about that stuff...and I don't miss it!

What to do under this tree

I would like to put something under this tree that will not spill out of the circle, that is 8-10 high and that is drought resistant; like the other plants in this space. Of course, it's possible that nothing is better than something, but it just feels empty to me, and the leaves from the tree...

Insect or fungus killing ficus trees

Here's a f/u to your suggestions. Our Ficus has completely recovered, new leaves abound and are lush and shiny. The 7 days treatment really worked. We finally found a plant wash. Our local nurseries did not carry if for some odd reason so we found it on Amazon. Thanks again for your help.

    Magnolia dwarf light issue?

Yes, that was my first thought when I read "self-seeding". I think Alyssum is self-seeding as it keeps popping up in our beds after someone planted it on their balcony.

    Magnolia dwarf light issue?

Thanks for that list of options for me to consider. I will Google each of them and take a look.

    Magnolia dwarf light issue?

We fired the landscape company. We are working on IDing those plants and plan to move them and find something that will thrive there.

    Magnolia dwarf light issue?

We fired the company a few months after they finished the job, and clawed back $1,000. of the fee they charged us, by threatening to post complaints with the BBB.

    Magnolia dwarf light issue?

We have a drip irrigation system. They do get "partial sun" during the day and those tall plants are thriving. They've grown a lot since they were put in.
