Wiil do! Thank you so much. I also need to avoid planting anything there in the future, too, correct? What a bummer.

Fire Blight; Young Tree... Is It Too Late?

I cut off the blackened and dead leaves yesterday. I don't have a picture of it. Some branches were dead, some had black leaves, some had leaves with black spots and orange rings around the black. It is a Bradford Pear. I will keep looking into what it might be.

Fire Blight; Young Tree... Is It Too Late?

My young tree has developed, what I am assuming to be, fire blight. I have no experience with this. Is it too late to bother trying to save it? This is what is left after trimming the visually infected branches yesterday (I wore gloves and sanitized the pruners along the way), but the trunk is...

Tell Me About Your Pond Experience

I love your ponds! Thank you. They're inspiring I'm getting excited. They're giving me a good idea of what size I want. The herons nest in my backyard, too, in an oak tree behind our fence. I'll register on the pond forum today and start looking into California aquatic plants... if any such...

Tell Me About Your Pond Experience

Oh, my gosh. It's so beautiful. I would sit and stare at that pond all day. Do you have any issues with wildlife? Or do you just let nature take it's course and roll with it? We have a lot of herons. I would probably have to stick to 10 cent feeder goldfish. Hehe

    Raised Bed Corn

My raised bed corn "lodged" in my new bed, too. I kept reading that they would fix themselves. I put straw mulch around them and propped them up a tiny bit. They did straighten out, are strong, and are almost ready for harvest.

Tell Me About Your Pond Experience

Thank you so much! Your pond is beautiful. You answered a lot of questions I had. About a week ago, I saw your filtration technique on a landscape architect show, but they didn't say what it was called. you put a name to it for me. Bog filter is the way I want to go. I didn't know about the...

    Crows & Corn?

Thank you, all! Yep, that cat is sick. I do have a cat that drools only when I pet him. He's not sick, just weird. Lol. Speaking of my cat, he eats the sweet corn, too. Had to put him on lock-down. All joking aside, I couldnt shoot a crow even if my neighbors weren't 9 feet away from my corn...

Tell Me About Your Pond Experience

I want to fulfill a childhood dream of having a backyard pond, but I don't want to just dive into it. I'm researching as much as possible because I know how easily a pond can be disrupted and become a headache. Tell me your most valuable lessons and tips you've learned. Recommendations for...

    Crows & Corn?

So, all that I need is a cat with an Al Pacino complex? Sounds easy enough.

    Crows & Corn?

Bahaha! I thought you were talking bout wire at first! And then I had visions of feathers flying. These guys eat me out of house and home, too, because they eat our dog food all day long.

    Crows & Corn?

what is your favorite way to protect corn from crows? This is my first year growing sweet corn in a raised bed. They have their tassels and I want to protect them before I have a real problem. We have tons of crows in the area. Thanks!

I picked up those same quick connect fittings a couple days ago. I will never go without them now!

What is your favorite wind block material?

That's omething new to look into, thanks! It looks like it is a little more permeable than the burlap I've looked at, which is good. I would like a LITTLE air flow.
