I use plants which have other utilities other than being used solely as a hedge. We have planted rows of comfrey around our compound as well as calliandra. These are used by goats as feed and their clippings enrich the soil. Comfrey doesn't flourish during dry spells and I sometimes mull on reinforcing the hedges with Lantana camara which is drought resistant. Which plants do you use as a hedge?

We have Duranta erecta or Golden Drop planted along our gates. These are sturdy bushes that thrive even under the hot tropical sun in the Philippines. They're flowering plants in different colors and ours give off small, white blooms. They also tend to grow tall that's why we cut them to maintain them at a certain height. They grow very thick and provide enough coverage of our yard.
