After finding Spuds last year that had reproduced without any foliage, i'm doing an experiment with one in a pot this year, see what happens if it gets water, food and warmth, but no light
Covering it with a ceramic plate, i''ll keep you informed of progress
Experimenting is fun, especially if it does not cost you any money. I will be very curious to see what happens to your spud in its dark house there. I have a couple of fingerling potatoes that are starting to grow sprouts and I was going to plant them outside to see if they would continue to grow. I realized that I had no potting soil left in the garage so I am going to have to go buy some today!
I've seen pictures of potatoes indoors hanging from the ceiling, grown in the dark. That was a while ago, and I don't remember where it was done, but it was very successful. I think they were grown that way because of a lack of farming space.
