Hi guys. I'm growing Romaine lettuce in a big pot outside of my apartment but the leaves look chewed on delicately around the edges and I can't actually see any bugs. Do you guys know of any safe way to repel pests without making the lettuce poisonous?

Spinosad is a completely safe organic product that will kill insects and caterpillars. It is made from a natural soil bacteria and is harmless to people and pets. And it works. You said the the edges of the leaves look chewed on Has there been a strong wind lately?

Check out this blog http://1gardening.wordpress.com it tells you how to keep ants and bugs off vines, vegetables, and flowers. It also shows you how to grow your garden quicker and bigger.
Good info, but when all else fails organic pesticide products always works. I.E. Spinosad, Neem Oil, Bt ( Bacillus Thuringiensis) and Diatomaceous Earth will not only deter but eradicate pests.
