So I think I have finally killed the grape ivy and other persistent perennials along the east side of my house. I could leave it bare but I hate to do that. :p When I have time I'll get by my favourite garden center and see what they've got. But in the meantime I'll take suggestions from y'all!

I was thinking evergreens for neatness but I also like flowering things.

Criteria: Tough and woody.
Must be resistant to dog pee. My boy dogs WILL pee on whatever I put there.
Not vining.
Gets morning but not afternoon sun.
Apparently awesome soil, since my weeds grow awesomely well.

I'm on a dappled willow(Salix integra 'Hakuro-nishiki') kick now. Bought one last week, and love it so much, I bought another two yesterday. They will grow perfectly fine in partial shade, which I have much of.

Oh, I looked those up, very pretty! And as I understand with annual pruning they can be kept short? I forgot to mention, I don't really want anything that gets more than about 3-4' tall otherwise it would block my windows.
