Just watched 5 episodes of Corrie and in one of them Gail is taking her drying off the line. All soft and fluffy.

I line dry everything and my towels resemble big flat loofahs.

Guess you English have soft breezes...

Course Zigs greenhouse didn't look like it got hit with a whisper!

Oh Lori, try a gale force wind and the hot Texas sun--our towels double as sand paper! I do like to dry laundry outside--but if it comes off the line too "hard" I stick it in the dryer on no-heat fluff for about five minutes.
I do agree about the English wind--it may be the source of the famous English complexion!

I have watched for 40 years it is too funny.

Okay maybe listened more than watched. I do my baking while it plays on Sunday mornings.

and I go through 10 kilos of flour every month.

My pub buddies call me the bread lady.

Found out skinny bob haircut woman is called Gail in the show.

Can't usually get past the theme music, it's so depressing it makes me want to kill myself

I used to bake all my bread, when I had an oven :(

In the summer I use a sun oven- just need a sunny place to park it.

Have used it for baking, cooking stews and roasts, all sorts of fun.

I could probably use it on a cold sunny day but am too lazy to drag it outside.

This is the one I have- you could also make one fairly cheaply. I made a small one just as an experiment before taking the plunge and buying mine.

here is a pic of it

Corrie Theme Music: Think of a blousy blond walking towards you with come hither eyes and exaggerated hip swaying..

CanadianLori please explain your sun stove. I have never heard of a sun stove to cook on. I have heard of making tea using the sun but not a sun stove.

It is actually a sun oven. You cannot use it like a cook top.

Basically looks like a suitcase but has a very well insulated and sealed box with a tight fitting tempered glass door on the top. Plus reflectors.

You place it in the sun, and put whatever you want to cook or bake in it. Mine gets up to just under 400F on a sunny day.

This is widely used in areas such as third world countries where there is no electricity. It not only is used to prepare foods but to make water safe for drinking. I received the little accessory with mine for ensuring water is potable.

Our electric is ridiculously expensive and between this and other solar power set ups, drying clothes on a line, etc, it has reduced the monthly growling (not mine) when the bill shows up!

I rarely hesitate to try new projects that catch my fancy and I think in my last life I was Curious George...

This sun oven is a new project to me. It sounds interesting and something that may have been used by my family in the past. I don't know if it something I could use in my area but I would be willing to try. If I went camping I think this is what I would use to cook my meals.

I got mine on sale for about $450. and I feel it was worth the money. If you google Sunoven, it will come up on amazon.
